The Jewish Cemetery in Putte Holland |
||
|
"Directions and Location of Putte, Holland" Putte is the location of the famous Jewish cemetaries of the Belgium and Holland Communities. Thankfully to the people and location of Putte the cemetery has been preserved for many years including the Nazi Invasion.
Putte is a small town / village located in Holland on the border with Belgium in Europe. From the map below, the green line marks the border of Holland and Belgium. Antwerp or Antwerpen pronounced Antverpen is located in Belgium.
The best and only sensible way to get to Putte is by car. From Antwerp a taxi is very reasonable priced and most taxi drivers in Antwerp know the way to Putte. If you are driving yourself the follow the ring road out NORTH of Antwerpen to the junction on the motorway that is marked KAPELLEN. As soon as one comes off the motorway follow the directions at the traffic lights to KAPELLEN. Once one is on that road to KAPELLEN, then it is a straight road. (As seen above in red marked N11). The border leaving Belgium and entering Holland is hardly noticeable but for a small signpost, as there are no longer any official border crossings or passport control in most european countries. Putte, Holland has a signpost, and is a small village, just keep driving through the straight road, and drive out of Putte, past the petrol station on the left hand side, until one comes into open countryside.
Maps reproduced with thanks to Collins Bartholomew at www.multimap.com Now start to drive slowly as one will soon approach this house and the black gates & the brick wall and entrance of one of the Jewish cemetaries. Due to the law of Eternity in Belgium, all the Jewish communities of Antwerp have been buried and continue to be buried in Putte, Holland. The Belgium law does not protect for eternity the sanctity of gravesites, (unlike in other european countries and in the rest of the world), the Belgium law reserves the right to build on top of graves or reuse gravesites, hence the Jewish communties of Antwerpen, Belgium have been buried in Putte, Holland, where the sanctity and respect of burial ground and gravesites is guarenteed for eternity. DRIVE SLOWLY ! DRIVE SLOWLY after this house on the main road just outside Putte, passing the first cemetary which is located on the main road until one comes to a tree lined road with a signpost and then make a right turn into the country lane. There is a small signpost saying "Machzikei Hadass 400 meter" in black with white writing but it is small and visible from the main road IF one is driving slowly !
The drive along this tree lined country lane slowly until one arrives at the Machzikei Hadass מחזיקי הדת Cemetery
