"Money",- "Parnosa",- "פרנסה",

עיני כל אליך ישברו ואתה נותן להם את אכלם בעתו

פותח את ידך ומשביע לכל חי רצון

Psalm 145 verses 15 & 16

The eyes of all look to You to satisfy their needs; and you give them their food at the right time. You open Your hand, and satisfy every living thing according to their needs.

"Why are humans worried about money ?"

The Talmud Kidushin 82 explains "Have you ever seen a living animal and bird that has a profession and worries about money, and yet these animals are here to serve humans, and i am created to serve GOD , surely i should not be worried about money? only problem is that i have strayed from serving GOD and my ways have been made crooked by my actions."

Sefer Tikunim - ספר תיקוּנים

When a person does not have any income or is lacking sufficient income to support oneself financially or if one is living in debt to survive then ones soul needs URGENT attention and corrections need to be made. Sefer Tikunim - ספר תיקוּנים, the "Book of Corrections" explains that a person should make the following TIKUN - correction so that one can earn money.

This is learnt from the time when the whole Jewish people lacked food in the wilderness, on the 15th Iyar the food they had taken out of Egypt had run out and there was no food in the desert. Moshe taught the people to pray and trust in Hashem - GOD, for 3 days and 3 nights, on 18th Iyar the Manna came from Heaven, this section of the Torah is known as "Parsha HaMan" פרשת המן . Whenever a person needs Parnosa - livlihood , the Sefer Tikunim explains that one needs to make the same TIKUN - correction to ones life, like they did in the desert.

The "Tikun" - the practical way to open up ones soul to Parnosa - Livelihood

Sefer Tikunim explains that a person must actually and physically put themself in the same position as the jewish people were in the desert at the time of Moshe.

This means that for 3 days and 3 nights one must eat NO MEAT, NO FISH and NO BREAD. The book suggest drinking milk, cheese eggs fruit and vegatables for 3 days and 3 nights, the reason is that the food we eat affects the way our body and soul feel. Eating animals who have been killed to provide our needs creates a "dead" energy within our body and soul, likewise bread is the sustenance of life by refraining from bread one can pray for something that the body is lacking better than when one has bread. Therefore when praying for livlihood, one should refrain from these foods for these 3 days and nights.

The best 3 days of the week to make the Tikun is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and the week just before the new moon, every month of the year.

The best time to pray for livelihood is from 3am until sunrise every day, this is because spiritually the new energy of each day starts before dawn at around 3am. At this time one should wake up, ( without disturbing NO ONE !!), and say the Parsha HaMan from the torah as below, this is usually said 3 times on each of the 3 days:-

פרשת המן - "Parshas HaMan"

פרשת המן - The Daily Heavenly Bread "Manna" in wilderness

from the Torah Exodus Chapter 16 from verse 4 until 36

Exodus Chapter 16

1 And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt. 2 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness; 3 and the children of Israel said unto them: 'Would that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.'

4 Then said the LORD unto Moses: 'Behold, I will cause to rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My law, or not. 5 And it shall come to pass on the sixth day that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.' 6 And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel: 'At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt; 7 and in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that He hath heard your murmurings against the LORD; and what are we, that ye murmur against us?' 8 And Moses said: 'This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against Him; and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.' 9 And Moses said unto Aaron: 'Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel: Come near before the LORD; for He hath heard your murmurings.' 10 And it came to pass, as Aaron spoke unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.

11 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying: 12 'I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak unto them, saying: At dusk ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.' 13 And it came to pass at even, that the quails came up, and covered the camp; and in the morning there was a layer of dew round about the camp. 14 And when the layer of dew was gone up, behold upon the face of the wilderness a fine, scale-like thing, fine as the hoar-frost on the ground. 15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another: 'What is it?'--for they knew not what it was. And Moses said unto them: 'It is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. 16 This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded: Gather ye of it every man according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, shall ye take it, every man for them that are in his tent.' 17 And the children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some less. 18 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. 19 And Moses said unto them: 'Let no man leave of it till the morning.' 20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and rotted; and Moses was wroth with them. 21 And they gathered it morning by morning, every man according to his eating; and as the sun waxed hot, it melted. 22 And it came to pass that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one; and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 23 And he said unto them: 'This is that which the LORD hath spoken: To-morrow is a solemn rest, a holy sabbath unto the LORD. Bake that which ye will bake, and seethe that which ye will seethe; and all that remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.' 24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade; and it did not rot, neither was there any worm therein. 25 And Moses said: 'Eat that to-day; for to-day is a sabbath unto the LORD; to-day ye shall not find it in the field. 26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.' 27 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that there went out some of the people to gather, and they found none. 28 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'How long refuse ye to keep My commandments and My laws? 29 See that the LORD hath given you the sabbath; therefore He giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.' 30 So the people rested on the seventh day. 31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna; and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. 32 And Moses said: 'This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded: Let an omerful of it be kept throughout your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.' 33 And Moses said unto Aaron: 'Take a jar, and put an omerful of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept throughout your generations.' 34 As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept. 35 And the children of Israel did eat the manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat the manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan. 36 Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.

Then say Psalm 20 to be said 3 times :-

Then say these two verses 181 times:-

transliterated, pronounced :-

"eyney chol elecha yesabeiru ve-ato nosein lohem es ochlom be'eto

poseyach es yodecha umasbee-a lechol chai rotzon"

Sefer Tikunim, say one should NOT count the number of times as this will detract ones concentration from saying the words carefully, but one should simply keep repeating these 2 verses for about 2 hours, with no interuptions. Sefer Tikunim explains that these 2 verses should be said continually in every spare moment of these 3 days, in order to "open up the mazel" of parnosa - livelihood".

The Sefer Tikunim says that when a person does this properly, suddenly whilst repeating these verses one will feel something spiritual and special, a feeling that ones mazel is being opened and parnosa will flow into ones life, then keep on repeating these verses in ones mind and thoughts whenever one needs DIVINE help in parnosa - at work in business.

Prayers completed - now action !

Sefer Tikunim explains that now that ones prayers are complete one should make an action reflecting creative productive food. One should plant trees, or seeds for fruit trees and vegetables, beans or pulse seeds, wheat or even plants and flowers. Everytime when one waters these plants whilst they are growing, remember that ones actions of watering is part of the creative life cycle. This indicates that one is serious and committed to being part of creative life energy in this physical world.

Then one is ready to write and discuss ones business plans, make decisions about ones work, business and goals, objectives. One needs to ACT, as this world is a physical world and money is earned by actions, so one needs to think carefully what to do and act !

Promise to give away 10% of your earnings to poor and hungry people or a "Charity" that helps poor people that you believe in.

The spiritual law of flow of "money", means that the more a person needs and gives to other people who need money the more money will come to the person. From the times of farmers in Israel, it was law to give 10% of produce to the poor and needy, the poor people were allowed to go in the fields and take the tithed produce (this is how Ruth met Boaz who later became the grandparents of King David , see Book of Ruth). In those times the farmers could see and know genuinely who were the poor people who needed money.

It is important that one knows and believes in the "Charity" that one gives, as in our generation there are many so called charitable organisations that support a large salaried administration, so make sure you give your 10% of earnings to genuine needy poor people. ( we recommend the Reb Meir Baal Haness charity who supports really poor people and all the admin is done voluntarily, see here for full history of Reb Meir Baal Haness and link to the genuine charity Chibas Yerushalayim ) . The important point is that one MUST believe in the charity that one is giving ones 10% of earnings.

Keep Ones Plans Secret

"אין הברכה חל אלא על דבר הסמוי מן העין"

"A blessing only comes on something that is kept hidden and secret from other peoples eye". As explained on spiritual laws and ability to change, it is imperative that whilst ones business in still in the "thought stage" to keep ones plans secret.

Dont be attached - materialistically !

"Shrouds dont have pockets" , one cannot take money with one to spirit world, money is a tool to help a person fulfill the spiritual purpose their soul came to earth to accomplish. Many people who waste their whole lives pursuing and worrying about money have wasted the gift of life, are ill prepared for the eternal spiritual journey of life.

Remember the daily bread of "Manna" teaches that we will always get what we need in order to fulfill our mission in life, the purpose our soul came to earth, our purpose in life is NOT to amass wealth that we cannot take with us to the eternal spirit world, trust that we will always get that which we need.

Remember Trust in GOD

The most important facet to "Parnosa" - Livelihood is to TRUST in GOD , everything a person needs will be provided for, if ones request and prayers are not given, keep asking and understand the reasons why you are asking for these needs. Maybe these are excesses and desires are never fulfilled only ones needs.

אומרת יונה לפני הקדוש ברוך הוא

רבונו של עולם ... יהיו מזונותי מרורים בידך

ואל יהיו מתוקים כדבש על ידי בשר ודם

Talmud Eruvin 18b, known as "The Prayer of the Dove" from Chapter 4 Perek Shira

"Almighty GOD, the Divine Creator of the whole Universe, please provide me with food, even it is bitter, i would prefer to be dependant upon YOU - O LORD, than have a sweet food & livelihood in the hands of people"

The prayer is emphazing that it is better to be dependant upon GOD even if one has very little materialistically, than be dependant upon other people ! As one looses ones freewill in "giving away" ones souls energy to other people when one is relying upon them. ( as explained in the chapter of "money" ).

Recommendations

As i learnt personally from the famous Manchester Rosh Yeshiva - Reb Yidel Segal Ztl , when a person is praying and asking for DIVINE help, and one is expecting a change in ones life circumstances then the best way to make a change happen is by changing ones character.

Manchester Rosh Yeshiva - Reb Yidel Segal Ztl always gave people blessings for successful liveliood - parnosa - but asked people to make certain changes pertainable in our generation . If one has a Television, Rabbi Segal asked that a person should get rid of the TV completely. If one is not careful with power of speech and gossips, then one should spend time changing and refining ones speech and stop gossiping, stop criticising with negative words and only using words of constructive kindness and of help to other people.

I am sure everyone knows themselves what facet of the soul they need to work upon and change, and in the merit of ones efforts and changes, one prayers for "Parnosa" will be answered, just like Hashem answered the prayers of Jewish people in the desert and gave the Manna from Heaven.
