Mesillas Yeshorim Chapter 1
In this chapter we shall explain the power of ones mind, thoughts and soul, especially the power of the intensity of each and every thought, when one focuses with concentration and determination, specifically on praying and having ones prayers answered.
The power of ones thoughts and the power of prayer has always had and continues to have the potential to change every possible situation, it all depends of the strength of ones "FOCUS" in ones mind, thoughts and soul. On this page we shall explain the following:-
1. Understanding what a מחשבה "thought" is, its energy and connection with speech and action in cycle of life and in "the prayer cycle" .
2. Understanding the difference in energy and strength between מוֹחין דגדלות thoughts of a thinking "adult" and מוֹחין דקטנוּת habitual thoughts of a "child" .
3. Understanding how to use the powerful energy of ones soul in a "thought" and how to focus ones soul and thoughts in prayer, to get ones prayers answered.
4. Understanding how to remain "closed", "protected" and "focused" on ones true purposeful destined pathway and not to be distracted in life by other peoples problems and bad situations that have nothing to do with ones destiny.
5. Understanding that "the key" to success in life is to learn to always be very focused on the purpose of ones life and not to waste time or energy on anything that has no eternal everlasting purpose.
Introduction
Every living person in this world thinks of 1000's of thoughts every day. Most of our thoughts have no energy, no purpose nor affect on anyones lives whatsoever. However, when a person learns how to develope a "focused thought energy" then a person will be able to use the power of a single thought to change ones life, and rectify any difficult or problematic situation in ones life.
It is ONLY the power of our "thoughts" that can change our lives. Once we learn how to master and control our thoughts then we are able to be "in control" of our lives, and then we are able to find our true successful and purposeful destiny for our souls physical journey of life on earth.
1. What is a "Thought" מחשבה ?
A thought is the most pure of spiritual energy we can create in this physical world with our physical mind, body and spiritual soul. Everything in this world that we accomplish with our physical bodies and spiritual souls can be categorised into one of 3 groups :-
Thoughts, Spoken Words & Actions
A "thought" is the most spiritual of energy one can create with ones mind and soul . The "thought" then has the potential to become a "spoken word" - if one decides to give the thought - physical energy . The "thought" also has the potential to become an "action" directly or as a result of the "spoken word" .
"THOUGHTS" are SPIRITUAL, they are messages you send out and create from within your soul, and messages that your soul receives from spirit world or from other people that you are sensitive and "intune" with, "thoughts" are the spiritual communication within ones soul to other peoples soul and to the eternal Divine spiritual realms.
"WORDS" have the capacity to be both SPIRITUAL and PHYSICAL. Words start the process of converting pure spiritual thought energy into a physical existence in this world. Words express the physical result of actions with either approval or disapproval, and act to continue the cycle of the thought process. "Words" are then used to make changes if the action proved a failure or words are used positively to confirm that the action was successful.
"ACTIONS" are PHYSICAL. They are a result of "thoughts" being converted into a physical action, either directly from the "thought" or by way of "spoken word" .
Thoughts Connect Ones Soul Spiritually
"Thoughts" are the most spiritual entity that we can create in this physical world, therefore, it is a "thought" from within our mind and soul that has the power to connect our soul to the eternal DIVINE spiritual realms. A "thought" energy is the spiritual energy that connects us with our "guardian angels" and with anyone or any soul with whom our spiritual thought energy has the ability to connect with depending on the energy from within our soul and the energy of the soul in "Spirit world" that wishes to help us.
The Prayer Cycle
The "prayer cycle" which in reality is simply the "creative life cycle" of all existence at the highest level attainable by humans on earth, explains the concepts of thoughts, words and actions interrelating with each other .
When actions or events happen in this world that we do not like, we immediately express ourselves by complaining or praying . If we choose to complain then these words are wasted .
If we choose to pray with positive thoughts and sensible reasoning, accepting the reality of the situation, and genuinely desiring to know why "things went wrong", then these words and thoughts are channelled to spirit world.
Every prayer is heard and when we focus our words, thoughts and even our tears this creates a spiritual energy to elevate our thoughts to spirit world .
The spiritual energy, when the timing is right and only when we are ready ( i add these important words "when we are ready" - as one might pray for something - but until one changes ones attitude - it will be blocked to happen . As we explained on the page of ABILITY to CHANGE, there are spiritual rules we need to follow to allow changes and prevent "blockages" ).
When the time is right, the "spiritual help" transcends into our thoughts in the form of intuitive "good ideas" and instinctive guidance. When the transcending of spiritual energy is strong, it can transcend into other peoples thoughts influencing them to help and even cause events - "divine coincedences" and spiritual "miracles" to occur .

A Prayer Without "Thinking" is a Waste !
Many people ask "why aren't my prayers answered?" Answer is simple - a prayer that has no "thought" energy attached to it is a waste of time. It is better to pray for 1 minute a day with concentration than to "say & chant prayers" for hours without no thought energy ! Prayer is about QUALITY - not quantity !
"Saying Prayers" are only fruitful when one focuses ones thought energy properly, and when the "thought energy" has power and concentration of an מוֹחין דגדלות "Mochin deGadlus" - "Adult thought energy".
2. Understanding the difference in energy and strength between:-
מוֹחין דגדלות thoughts of a "Thinking Adult"
& מוֹחין דקטנוּת habitual thoughts of a "child"
In order to pray successfully one needs to create concentrated and focused "thoughts" from ones soul, strong energizing "adult" thoughts.
Definitions of מוֹחין דקטנוּת and מוֹחין דגדלות
The basic level of thoughts are called מוֹחין דקטנוּת "Mochin deKatnus" literally translated as "brain cells of a child" . These are thoughts that have no intrinsic energy to elevate themselves emotionally or spiritually . These thoughts come and go from our mind without any feelings or "active concentration" .
The higher level of thoughts are called מוֹחין דגדלות "Mochin deGadlus" literally translated as "brain cells of an adult" . These thoughts embody themselves with energy from the soul and therefore connect the physical with the spiritual within the body and soul .
We all "Know" when we are "Thinking"
Everyone knows when they are "thinking" properly with focused concentration. The simple way to know if one is "thinking" or not ..... is to ask yourself :-
Do you remember what you did yesterday?
The stronger the "thought" energy associated with the actions and words one did and said then the bigger the imprint it has upon ones soul and the easier it is to remember.
This is the reason why many people cannot remember some years of their lives, as they did not do anything of any worth or value that has left an impression upon the memory of their soul. When a person realises that years have passed by in ones life that one cannot remember then a person realises that it is TIME FOR A CHANGE ! And a need to START to WAKE UP and THINK strong thoughtful concentrated "Adult thoughts" !

"The Prayer Cycle"
The start of the cycle is ones thoughts. In exactly the same way as one awakens from sleep each morning, one starts to think thoughts and then one gets out of bed. Likewise everything we do every moment of our lives starts with a thought. When actions or events occur that we dont like, we instinctively utter words. When these words are said in prayer with concentrated "adult thought" energy then they become connected to the DIVINE spiritual realms and a cycle of help starts.
Connecting Spiritually
Prayers are ALWAYS Answered
In transforming ones thoughts to becoming strong "Adult thoughts" one is now spiritually receptive, emotionally aware, sensitive and "awake" to the images and lifes experiences, one has connected ones soul to the DIVINE Source of all life energy - GOD. At this stage in life, one maybe overwhelmed with a vitality of energy, as everything becomes lovely, beautiful and most importantly a person comes "ALIVE" !
At this moment one is ready to PRAY and have ones PRAYERS answered. The "prayer cycle" works as ones thoughts, actions and words are now connected coherently in the cycle of spiritual thought energy, and ones soul is now awakened to change and one is now "listening" spiritually for guidance to correct the mistakes one has made and find ones true purposeful destined life.
GOD will make a way, where there is no way
The experience of living in this world is to come to a stage in life to admit that one cannot "work everything out" and one needs Divine help. Admitting this truth when one is in a seemingly unsolvable situation and praying "Please GOD make a way for me where there seems to be no way", has an amazing affect on ones soul, as it works to transform a person from an individual to becoming part of humanity, creations of GOD, by reconnecting ones soul spiritually to the eternal DIVINE GOD.
Lighting Candles
The spiritual tradition which is emphasized from Sefer Shinuyim - the Book of Changes ( and Sefer Tikunim), is to always light candles whenever one needs spiritual help. So light one, two or three candles and say a prayer.
Simple and Effective Prayers
Dear God: Although I have ignored You for all these years and even denied Your existence, and not appreciated all You have done for me, I'm in trouble now. And I know You're the only ONE Who can help. Please help me, find and guide me to way where there seems to be no way.
GOD will always make a way where there seems to be no way !
4.Understanding how to remain closed, protected and "focused" on ones true purposeful destined pathway.
Understanding that it is of paramount importance that one remains "closed", "protected" and "focused" on ones true purposeful destined pathway and not to be distracted in life by other peoples problems , their baggage and their bad situations that have nothing to do with ones destiny.
As we have explained that the biggest blockage in anyones life is when they are diverting their thought and souls energy to desiring a life that is NOT theirs. Each and every person has a destined purposeful life, but when one is "living someone elses" life one looses ones specific souls identity and this automatically stops the flow of physical and spiritual life energy into ones soul, hence the reason why many people feel depressed and "drained" when they are on the "wrong pathway" in their lives.
The Solution is simple - ALWAYS be AWAKE ! Whenever a person feels "ALIVE" then one knows one is on the correct pathway, whenever a person feels tired, drained, depressed then a person needs to question what they are doing with ones life.
The Purposeful Mission of Life
Each and every person has a purposeful mission in life. Recognise and have the self confidence to believe that one has a been blessed with a unique soul that has a specific mission in life. A mission that NO ONE else can perform, and therefore it is ones duty to ones own soul to make sure that one succeeds and DONT ALLOW anything or anyone to distract you from your DIVINELY blessed and unique mission in life.
Tests of Faith
Once one has cleared the past negativity, and developed a positive outlook and purpose in life, one must always remain focused and protect ones soul, in order to retain spiritual safety and security. The principle of which is that whilst and whenever ones soul is elevating, the soul is always challenged, tested and continues to learn by experiences, some of which can be extremely difficult in the eyes of many people. These are tests of faith .
to Real Success in Life
"The Key" to success in life is to learn to always be very focused on the purpose of ones life and not to waste time or energy on anything that has no eternal everlasting purpose.
Whenever a person wastes time or wastes energy by diverting energy away from their own specific mission and purpose in life then one will feel drained, blocked and thwarted in ones life. The Spiritual "signposts" in ones life are that a person will always has a good feeling when one is on the correct pathway for ones soul.
Nontheless there are times, especially during transitional periods of change in ones life when one will be self-doubting. The "KEY" to success at these times is to use every moment and every thought wisely. Dont waste anytime nor waste any energy on anything that has no purpose nor use for ones life.
"Don't Waste Any Time !"
Our souls journey in this physical world has a specific length of time, which is related to accomplishing of our specific purpose in life. If we choose to be lazy and avoid our true destined physical and spiritual purpose in this physical life then our lives will be thwarted with problems and failures. When we choose to connect spiritually and recognise that we have a specific purpose and we are accomplishing that purpose then we will have success in everything we do every moment of our lives. So the simple solution is "Dont waste any time" !
"If we waste time and energy then our lives will be wasted", everything that happens in our lives happens for a reason, if we find ourselves wasting time and energy, then maybe we need to take an introspective look at our lives and stop the cycle of "time wasting".
"DIVINE Success" - Good Mazel !
The secret for DIVINE success and good fortune - "Good Mazel" - in life is never to waste time as explained in Psalms 1 :-

ביטול זמן Time Wasting
This applies to every part of our lives, not wasting time, not wasting words and not wasting actions. When we use every part of our physical existence purposefully then we are assured success. This especially applies in our "modern world" where people spend hours every evening in front of the television, wasting their evenings away ! As we explained at the very end of the chapter of "Peace of Mind" there is a special spiritual blessing of success for everyone who does NOT waste time, (especially in front of the Television).
An Anecdote to Getting Ones Prayers Answered
According to Reb Chaim Vital and his teacher the famous Ari Zal, if we wish to get our prayers answered and have a wonderful year we should spend the day of Yom Kippur or in fact any day of the year in prayer THANKING GOD for the gift of life, thanking GOD for everything that has happened in our lives, then all our prayers will be answered as understood from the following story:-
I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to GOD said in prayer are received."
I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world. Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section.
The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them."
I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.
Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledgment Section," my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed. "How is it that? There's no work going on here?" I asked.
"So sad," the angel sighed. "After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments; however everyone who sends in a "THANK YOU" their name is signed in a special book that gets them priority treatment next time they pray and ask GOD for help".
