Facing the Fear of Success

This fear manifests as an inability to make money consistently enough to accumulate the amount necessary to create a firm financial foundation and sustain it.  In other words, we begin making money and get to the point where we can finally put some aside only to get abruptly stopped by some crisis or other situation.  It can be an illness or a car accident or some unexpected bill that changes our focus, causing us to lose our momentum.

Likewise, this "fear of success" can manifest itself in the fact that a person never completes a task successfully, even though they are more than capable, instead they "choose to run away" from themselves, thwarting their own potential by creating a blockage. If this cycle occurs more than once or even twice in our life, this is a block עיכובים .

עיכובים Blockages of fear of success

Everyone on earth has a purpose and destiny, we are all constantly receiving spiritual energy that keeps our soul and body alive, we all have a destined soulmate - love, a home and job to accomplish in this life in a real world. If we are blocking our destiny through our own negative thoughts and fears, or if we have given away our power by transference and allowing others to block our success, then we must learn to understand the intrinsic reasons why our soul has chosen to block and thwart our own success and progress in life.

To understand the blockage we must, a) understand why our soul creates this block. That means "reading the signs" from our daily life events, the pattern, the way it usually manifests, the fear that fuels the pattern and the beliefs that fostered the fear and, b) the concepts that form the foundation to eliminate the fear and enable a person to change.

The 3 Elements of "The Block"

1. The Wrong Beliefs

The foolish and wrong "fundamental" beliefs – the beliefs (some of which have been brainwashed by irresponsible parents and teachers from a young age) that create the fear:

  • It is more blessed to give than to receive
  • It is bad to be selfish; only sinners are selfish
  • When we put the needs of others before our own, we are better people
  • Rich people are selfish, arrogant, cold-hearted and unfriendly , it's better to be poor and classed as a good person, being open, friendly and warm-hearted.
  • Successful people are hated and many people are jealous of them, curse them or cast an "evil eye" over them because they have money and success.
  • Rich and successful people always have marriage problems or problems with their children, friends and family, they may have money but have sadness and bitterness in their lives .
  • Those who give the most are better, are more worthy and more acceptable than those who give less or ask to receive in return.
  • It’s my responsibility to make sure that those who love me are happy, safe and satisfied.  If, for some reason, I’m unable to ensure these 3 things, then it’s because I wasn’t good enough, smart enough, aware enough or even worse being selfish because I was focused on me.

These aren’t necessarily all of the beliefs but they are the ones most commonly found in this block. Once a person is aware of the "brainwashed" ideas one has developed and erases this silly ideas from ones mind, this is the first step to remove the blockage.

(Similarly "brainwashing" of wrong and false beliefs occurs especially with fanatics of "religion", for example, as we all now know in hindsight that it is silly to believe that a Rebbe who died in June 1994 was the Moshiach - Messiah, and yet there are 1000's of seemingly religious fanatic jews who have a brainwashed belief that he is the Messiah !)

Truly successful people who are kind hearted and spiritually minded, understand that they have been blessed with material wealth as a gift to use wisely and responsibly to help other people. They always speak with humility aware that the spiritual presence is guiding their lives, and they take great responsibility for all the actions, words and thoughts.

In our generation we can see examples of the correct way to behave, with success and good fortune. The kindness and generosity of Bill Gates, Ben Zion and Shlomo Freshwater, Paul Reichmann and many other wealthy, successful people who always accredit their wealth to a blessing from GOD and Spirit world. Meeting this type of successful, spiritually-minded, kind-hearted and thoughtful people are good examples to learn from and will easily dispell foolish beliefs about success and money !

Wouldn't it be an amazingly lovely world to live in, if all the wealthy and successful people will be kind-hearted and spiritually minded !

2. A desire to remain with the Soul נשמה of innocence and "childhood"

A desire and wish to remain with the Soul נשמה of innocence and "childhood". The fear of "Growing up" and maturing from a child to an adult.

To understand this element of the blockage, is simple, the person grows up but still chooses to "hold onto" a way of living like a child, the stage of change from child to adolescent to adulthood has not taken place, the "grown-up" still confronts life like an immature child. To remove this blockage in ones mind we need to understand why a person is holding onto beliefs of a "child":-

The Soul נשמה of innocence and "childhood"

The "Child" within all of us who is innocent,  playful, creative, and unconditionally loving. And just like a real flesh and blood child, the "Child" lives in the moment without thought to tomorrow. At some point this child will develop a fearful side just like a flesh and blood child as a result of painful experiences. In its most positive aspect this fear-based side is used to keep the child safe from harm.

The Inner Child believes that it is his/her job is to keep you safe in the body so that you can complete your incarnation, and that this job is tantamount to his/her existence. In other words, the spiritual soul of a childs' primary focus is survival—in the moment—at all costs.

They believe that too much physical and/or emotional pain can cause the body to die and thus cause them to die…and they don’t want to die! Therefore, the Soul of the Child uses fear as his/her main form of communication as well as the main tool to keep us alive.  In regards to this block, as stated earlier, the Inner Child/Ego has created it to save us, not to hurt us.

Hence, if the life experiences are too painful for the "soul of a child", it will choose to "run away" from the pain, or suppress the thoughts of pain by doing something it likes. (in our generation many people sit infront of the TV for hours every night, play games etc, just to avoid confronting their problems).

Limitations of child's energy

As we explained on the page of Stages of Change , the child's belief is to take energy from other people. The child, in transforming into an adult will change its nature from a "taker" of energy, to a "creator" and "giver" of loving and supportive energy. Firstly we shall understand the limitation belief of a child and hence why people are blocked from having successful lives.

"Energy Expenditure of a child"

Energy expenditure is the amount of life force (physical and emotional energy) that we expend each day. A child has a limit of how much energy it can expend on a daily basis.  That limit is based on physical and emotional health and varies from day to day.  Once that limit is reached the child experiences fatigue, either physical, mental, emotional or all three.

Fatigue is part of the Childs' language.  Through fatigue he/she is telling us he/she needs to rest and reenergize.  The "Child" physically reenergizes through sleep and emotionally reenergizes through play.  Fun laughter and games are energizing.  Imagine that!  But, if we push past that limit we deplete our energy reserves and the "child" has to take much needed energy from areas such as joints, bones, muscles, etc to keep the body going.  If we do this too often our body begins to break down causing us physical and emotional pain.  We can’t consistently deplete the body of critical levels of energy without experiencing the consequences.

If the "inner soul of child" determines that we don’t listen and have a habit of consistently depleting our reserves, he/she will begin blocking us from doing those things that cause the overdraft.

If we habitually go beyond our limits our soul, will begin blocking the outflow of life force in whatever manner works and gets our attention, usually a "lack of money and success" block always works to get our attention.

These blockages often come in the form of major problems. They are signposts for us to STOP and think carefully, "why do we feel so drained?", and enable us to stop following the wrong pathway in life.

Our soul does this in order to keep us alive, it's not a punishment, rather its "a blessing" that our soul is sensitive to guide our pathway.

First step to Change - "Setting Limits"

As we are transforming ourselves, whilst in a stage of "blockage" we must learn the necessity to be careful at the way we expend our energy. The blockage has been placed by our soul, so that we become aware at the places were we have wasted energy.

Setting limits means taking a hard, honest look at what we want to expend energy on each day based on the amount we have to expend. And carefully analyzing each source of expenditure of our energy, if it is alignment of a purposeful creative life.

The Mishne in Pirkei Avos always suggests that for every day of ones life, a person imagines that they have just ONE DAY to live. If one had just one day to live "what would you do in the last day of your life?"

Once a person becomes aware of ALL of ones actions, words and thoughts, as a responsible and constantly "thinking" adult, then automatically ones soul releases the blockage.

The second step - "Creating Energy"

As we explained on the page of STAGES of CHANGE, a person changes from being a "taker" of energy like a child, into a "creator" and "giver" of loving and supportive energy. Realizing that this amazing planet has been created, continues to reproduce and is sustained only by loving energy, transforms the person from a child to adult.

Then the "fears of success" and fears that one has to fight, bully, steal or intimidate in order to succeed dissipate. The fears magically vanish, being replaced with a desire to LOVE.

The concept of "fighting to survive" causes fears, hatred, jealousy and hence death, as we can understand from the animal world who live in the deepest and dangerous jungles.

Once we have learnt the spiritual law that life energy on earth is through LOVE and not hate, then automatically we have a desire to become part of the cycle of creative life-giving, loving energy, thus we have learnt the recipe for creating energy. And all blockages are taken away.

After changing ones perception of life, releasing the fears and replacing them by loving thoughts, one has arrived at a time when one feels enlightened with an amazing vitality.

All true soulmate "lovers" and spiritually loving people understand this and gain their vitality from the creative life energy of LOVE. It is the sense and desire to love and be loved that gives everyone on earth a reason to live, to be part of creation and sustaining of life.

3. Emergency - "the mid-life crisis"

The soul corrects a person from being on the "wrong pathway" by creating blockages.

The pattern and cycle of failure acts as an EMERGENCY signpost to guide one to ones TRUE and correct destiny.

This is especially true during the "mid-life" crisis, whereby the soul recognizes that one is in the WRONG place. So emergency measures are taken by ones soul which create blockages and "upheaval" in ones life in order to facilitate changes in the course of ones life pathway.

As we explained on the page of STAGES of CHANGE, the mid-life crisis opportunity comes as a blessing to correct ones life pathway. If one has married the wrong person, leading the wrong type of life, the upheaval in the years of "mid-life" enables a person to re orientate and realign ones life with ones true soulful purpose in life.

At this time, ones SOUL may block success in ones life, in order to act as a signpost, and catalyst to get one to THINK carefully about ones chosen life pathway. Once a person has 100% successfully detached oneself from the wrong and draining situations of ones life, and is on the correct pathway, then automatically ones soul will take the blockage away.

Conclusion

In conclusion of this chapter, Sefer Shinuyim teaches that blockages caused by "fears", they are gifts from ones soul. As indications that a person needs to change. Blockages act as signposts to save ones life.

Once a person changes, by negating and debrainwashing ones negative thoughts of hate, jealousy and destructive fearful thoughts into thoughts of LOVE, kindness, compassion with a spiritual constructive creative purpose then any blockages in ones life will vanish.
