DIRECTIONS TO MANCHESTER CEMETARY

This is easy to find if you have been there before, otherwise it can be very very difficult !!! I hope that the maps below will help, i have made it as easy as possible . Otherwise i suggest you go to the Machazikei Adass Synagogue In Broughton Park Salford. There are some very helpful friendly and kind people in Manchester who may even drive you out to the Cemetary . ( Manchester jews have a very good name as being very friendly and helpful !! ) All maps Reproduced with kind permission and sincere thanks to www.multimap.com .

The Cemetary is in Whitefield - North of the centre of Manchester

Whitefield is at Junction 17 on the M60 ( the manchester orbital motorway )

From this map below, you can see Junction 17 for Whitefield and "Cemy" on the map on the left is the Jewish Cemetary , but getting there is the "difficult" part !!! Just follow the map !!!

At the roundabout over the Junction 17 of the M60

Follow the road in "green" coloured road - Bury New Road ,

and then the "orange" coloured forking to the left

called Higher Lane along Philip Lane

Then turn left into Park Lane at the traffic lights opposite Pinfold lane

Drive along Park Lane , past the playing field on the left hand side , following the road past the shops , then the road bends to the left by some shops, over a small roundabout and then follow the road to the left . You are still on Park lane as in the map below , suddenly the road comes to a dead end . At that point turn right into Philips Park Road , the road is ok for 100 metres and then it becomes a typical "English country lane" .

After about 500 metres of this road , you will find the entrance to the cemetary on the right hand side . In the Map above the cemetary is before Old hall lane . So if you have driven to that lane you have gone too far . The Entrance to the cemetary is modern and new in orange looking bricks and black gates .
