This קדיש prayer is written in aramaic, the language of the Talmud, written 2,000 years ago. The letters, meaning and words of this traditional prayer are symbolic of the Jewish peoples desire for peace in this world and a recognition that there is an eternal spiritual world of the souls.

are pronounced: English Translation of the Kaddish Prayer :- May His illustrious name become increasingly great and holy, in the world that He created according to His will,
and may He establish His kingdom and flower the redemption bringing Moshiach closer, in your lifetime and in your days
and in the lifetime of all the house of Israel Speedily and soon. And let us say amen. The Reason for the Kaddish Prayer The קדיש "Kaddish" prayer is said by a man in the synagogue, during the 3 daily prayer services. It is said by a man who has lost one of his 7 closest relatives, that is:- his father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister. If someone has died with no close living male relative then it is customary that the nearest person to the departed should say the Kaddish prayer. The reason for the kaddish prayer is to elevate the soul through our prayers as explained on the "explanation page". Reading the words of the Kaddish prayer, one will see there is no mention of souls of the departed; when a person has lost someone they love, the normal reaction of every human is to feel lost, lonely, depressed, sad and devastated. The first thoughts after a loved one has died is, of wondering "what is life all about?", "what is the purpose of life?", "is there a GOD?", "is there really a soul?", "and where does the soul go?" ... these are just some of the normal questions that everyone asks. The reading of "Kaddish" prayer is to affirm that there is a GOD, a Creator of the whole universe and the vast realms beyond this universe. The Kaddish prayer reminds us to think of the fact that our planet is just a speck of dust in the great scheme of things, the small planet "earth" moves in this vast Universe created by GOD. Learn to trust in GOD and feel reassured that there is a reason for everything that happens, however painful the loss of a loved one whom has died. During the year of saying the "kaddish" prayer most people transform and change, learning to understand and accept that death is a part of the cycle of life, this physical life is simply a short journey for our soul to experience and when the mission of our life is fulfilled it is time for our soul to return to our Creator to Spirit world, in accordance with the Divine plan. Learning the lesson of acceptance, and transforming ones spiritual attitude towards "life and death", usually takes a whole year, hence the reason why the Kaddish prayer is said for one year.
